Extra take-home from bonus / year
| Extra gross pay | £10,000.00 |
|---|---|
| Extra Income Tax | £2,000.00 |
| Extra National Insurance | £800.00 |
| Extra loan repayments | £0.00 |
| Total take-home / year | £32,319.60 |
| Extra take-home / month (annual ÷ 12) | £600.00 |
Annual same-employer comparison without pensions. A one-off payment can produce different NI and loan deductions in payroll. Monthly figures divide the annual result; they do not predict the month in which a bonus is paid.

Calculation details
Annual comparison
The result subtracts take-home without the bonus from take-home with it. This captures crossings of tax bands and the Personal Allowance taper. It does not predict the exact bonus-month payslip.
Example
On a £30,000 salary, a £10,000 bonus adds £7,200 annual net pay without pensions or loans, under the annual NI approximation.
Limits
England 2026/27, one job, standard Personal Allowance and its taper. Annual NI and loan approximations do not reproduce a one-off payroll payment. Other income, benefits, special tax codes and pension contributions are excluded unless explicitly entered.
Sources
- Personal Allowance and adjusted-net-income taper
- Category A rates and annual NI thresholds
- NI normally deducted per pay period
- Separate employment NI liabilities and aggregation exceptions
- Plan thresholds, rates and simultaneous undergraduate/postgraduate deductions
- Loan earnings follow Class 1 NI earnings; pension net pay does not lower loan earnings
- Multiple employers and Self Assessment loan aggregation
- Voluntary repayments may not help before write-off and are not refundable
