Illustrative constant-return projection, not a safe-withdrawal guarantee. Contributions are in today’s money and rise with inflation. Enter returns after investment fees. Tax, market volatility, sequence risk, pension-access ages and future contribution changes are excluded. Other income must be available from the start of the retirement period; do not include a State Pension that starts later.

Calculation details
Target and accumulation
The target is annual spending not covered by other income divided by the selected withdrawal rate. Accumulation uses the entered constant real return, calculated from nominal return and inflation, with monthly contributions rising with inflation.
Example
£30,000 annual spending with no other income and a 4% withdrawal assumption gives a £750,000 portfolio target. That arithmetic does not establish that 4% is sustainable for your horizon.
Limits
No guaranteed safe withdrawal rate. Market volatility, sequence risk, taxes, pensions access, State Pension start dates and changing contributions are not modelled. Only count other income available from the start of retirement. Consider an accessible bridge fund separately for retirement before pension access.
