Calculation details
Energy required
Driving energy is mileage divided by vehicle efficiency. Dividing by one minus the charging-loss fraction gives electricity drawn from the charger. The home/public split and unit rates determine annual cost.
Example
10,000 miles at 4 miles/kWh with 10% losses need about 2,778kWh from chargers. At 80% home charging at 25p and 20% public at 60p, annual cost is about £888.89.
Limits
Rates are editable examples, not quotes. Compare any higher daytime costs on the rest of your household, standing charges, subscriptions and charger installation separately. Weather, driving conditions and charging behaviour change efficiency.
